Your startup needs a power dialer because cold email is not a GTM strategy!
Cold e-mail doesn’t cut it on its own for startups. It never has and it never should be a startup’s first step in their GTM strategy. Cold calling however, is amazing on its own as a GTM strategy and should be the first step in a startups process. And yes when you put the two together, you have synergy!
Last month, in April 2025, I spoke with an MSP that was paying $2k/month to use cold emailing as a GTM strategy. The org had sent 16,000 emails and he closed only one deal. His company cannot survive off one deal per quarter. Because he loses a few customers here and there. I provide outsourced cold calling services so I know that the best way to GTM is first to have an outbound sales engine. And that doesn’t start with cold calling.

Cold Calling is the best GTM strategy for any business but especially startups!
Hands down. Cold calling is HOT. So what tools do you need to cold call? Here is the Cloud Sales Coach recommended formula for cold calling:
1. You need a great list. Need help with this? Click here.
2. You need a great script and soft skills like (rhythm, tone, pace, tempo). Get Coaching
3. You need a great power or parallel dialer. Keep reading for the difference between power dialer and parallel dialer and the 9 reasons you need a parallel dialer.
The difference between a power dialer and a parallel dialer is…
Let’s answer two question shere:
1. Why do you need a power dialer? A power dialer dials one number at a time but it automates the process of trying to dial. Compare it to clicking on each contact in your CRM and manually clicking to dial. So it’s great for when your target area market (TAM) is small like you only have less than 1,000 people in your ICP that you want as customers. In this case slow down your dialing but still automate it.
2. When do you need a parallel dialer? A parallel dialer turns up a power dialer by dialing multiple lines at the same time. It’s best for when you have a list of 1000 or more contacts that you want to call very fast to GTM like at a startup.
The nine reasons why you need a parallel dialer…
- You have a lead list of 1000 contacts and you need to call it.
- But dialing one by one in your CRM will limit you to 100 dials per day.
- So that’ll take five business days to call every one once.
- And statistics show that you have to call people 7 times before they answer.
- And you don’t have 2.5 months to reach everyone (7 dials x 2 weeks = 14 weeks or 2.5 months).
- And since only 1 in 5 people pick up anyway that means you’re having just 20 conversations per day.
- And out of those 20 convos, only 5 are positive. Worse yet, only one meeting gets booked.
- And it takes 10 meetings to close a deal. At this rate you’ll never launch your startup.
- Or for your established business with a 10% churn rate, your sales team won’t outpace it so you’ll just lose money every year.
The Solution: The Best Power & Parallel Dialer is… Koncert.

There are other power and parallel dialers. With Koncert starting at just $150/mo per user for a single line power dialer and just $300/mo for a 5 line parallel dialer and the ability to add 100 caller IDs for just $100/mo, is SERIOUS value!
So how does Koncert compare to other power & parallel dialers?
FIRST PLACE: Koncert: Offers all the best features from every other dialer like live coaching and 5 line parallel dialing but it’s also AI-powered and has more advanced features than any other dialer like Intelligent Caller ID Management. Pricing details are $150 per user/month for the single line dialer and $300 per user/mo for the parallel dialer with 100 caller IDs costing just $100/mo. This is the best deal on the market and perfect for startups as they also do not require a seat minimum like the other companies. Cloud Sales Coach saw a return on investment of 2 weeks. There’s also options for tennant based capabilities for cold calling agencies. I am connect with on average anywhere from 1 in 3 dials to 1 in 6 dials. Those are amazing stats.
SECOND PLACE: Orum: An AI-powered parallel dialer designed for enterprise sales teams. They offer a Launch plan at $750 per month (due to the required minimum of 3 seats). So for those startups with only 1 or 2 reps you are wasting money by getting Orum. You’re also limited to just 5 caller IDs in their Launch package and only 10 caller IDs in their Ascend package. This is not admirable or optimal for cold calling.
THIRD PLACE: Nooks: An AI-powered dialer with a marketing that focuses on coaching and prospecting, but I found their software and experience to be clunkier than Koncert. Pricing is not transparent, with most users reporting costs starting around $4000 annually and often requiring long-term contracts. During a demo of this software I found Nooks to be not as clean and polished as Koncert or Orum. It has a touch of trying to be gimmicky and a lack or robust tools that Koncert has. It has a touch of trying to appeal too much to the younger generation instead of just being an amazing tool to dial with. You’re also limited to just 5 caller IDs with this pricing.
DISQUALIFIED: ConnectAndSell: A sales acceleration software that connects reps with live leads via agent assisted dialing. I have disqualified them based on pricing alone. Pricing is way too steep, with a maximum price reaching up to $96,000 and an average cost around $50,000 annually. This option is extremely much higher than any other solutions and the ROI is just not there. Any ROI you would have with this dialer is eaten up by Connect and Sell’s pricing.
My results with Koncert in March 2025:
Using Koncert in March of 2025, I dialed 3100 contacts, connected with 1 in 5.5 and had 465 conversations about my company. 40% of those conversations were positive and 1 in 6 of those positive conversations resulted in a meeting booked! This generated $120k ARR for my company under 60 days!
